I am currently the Associate Dean for Research, Enterprise, and Scholarship at the Faculty of Business and Law of the Open University in the UK and Professor of Finance and Financial History at the Open University Business School. My previous roles include leading the REF2021 submission for Business and Management at the Open University Business School.
My research intersects finance, political economy, and history. It has opened innovative and interdisciplinary paths towards the understanding of financial markets and risk management as social and historical processes, arguing that it is not possible to grasp finance and investment without having a long-term historical perspective.
I am have launched the research cluster HistorY and Political Economy (HYPE) of Business and Finance and the Open Political Economy Group (OPEG) at The Open University.
