I am a Professor of Finance and Financial History at the Open University Business School in the UK. Previously, I served as Associate Dean for Research and Innovation at the Faculty of Business and Law of The Open University, and I led the Open University Business School submission for the REF2021.
My research sits at the intersection of finance, political economy, and history. It explores financial markets and risk management as social and historical processes, arguing that a long-term historical perspective is essential to truly grasp finance and investment.
I am have launched the research cluster HistorY and Political Economy (HYPE) of Business and Finance and the Open Political Economy Group (OPEG) at The Open University.
